Clear the Clutter and Make Space To Create
As the busy days of summer come to an end and the cool days of fall and winter set in, it's time to schedule a little "me time" to focus on the hobbies or craft projects you so enjoy. This can be a challenge if you're not well organized and have a schedule that allows only 30 60 minutes for crafting. Sterilite offers simple solutions that help maximize the space you have, keeping areas organized and clutter free so you have more time to be creative.

Getting Started Evaluate Space Above and Below
Most craft enthusiasts enjoy more than one form of crafting, making a tough task of organizing all sorts of different materials within a limited space. It is best to assess the space you have and determine additional areas where you can expand or maximize storage possibilities. Empty spaces above or below work areas are ideal for keeping items close at hand so they can be retrieved easily and put back when finished. Consider installing shelving above work areas or using a spare closet to organize supplies and maximize the space you have. Smaller craft supplies are best stored in Latching Storage Boxes that can be stacked several high to maximize vertical space. The clear bases allow you to easily view items enclosed so supplies can be found in a moment's notice. You can even add personalized labels to the outside to help define what is enclosed and customize your storage.

Drawer Carts can be a crafter's best friend. They are available in narrow, medium and wide widths so you're sure to find a size that fits your space. Configurations that have multi-sized drawers are great for organizing both large and small craft items. Some Drawer Carts offer file storage capabilities which are ideal for sorting manuals or patterns, and most are sized to fit below work areas helping to keep items close at hand.

Countertop Storage
Next, assess your countertop work area. You will want to limit the items stored on countertops and desktops to allow space for working on your projects. We recommend storing the supplies you use most often in Countertop Drawers. The Small 3 Drawer and 5 Drawer Units are ideal for organizing thread, scissors and jewelry making supplies, while the medium 3 Drawer Unit accommodates larger items like 8" x 11" paper or felt. The Wide 3 Drawer Unit accommodates 12" x 12" papers and is a scrapbooker's dream.

Never underestimate the possibilities of Baskets or Stacking Drawers in helping with your organizing efforts. These items are useful for storing fabric, yarn, ribbon, and other supplies and can easily be stacked along the wall or in a corner area to help maximize vertical space while still allowing access to the items you use most frequently.

With these helpful tips you are sure to be organized, helping you make the most of your hobbies. Share your craft organizing tips and photos with us on Twitter @Sterilite_Corp!
